T,T,T,Too much time on my hands

Doug Wothke is heading off to do the Motorcycle Cannonball race
NY to San Fransisco, just shy of 4,000 miles on a pre-1935 motorcycle.

He almost had my dad and I convinced down in Maxton to build up a 101 Scout (Much like his own) to do the race.    Financial reasons we opted for Bonneville again.

Doug is a few screws loose, but I much envy his mental state.

He is riding up from Alabama to NY, racing, then returning to Alabama.
8,000 miles - 5 weeks

What the hell am I doing here in this office?

Off to Davenport tomorrow for some swap & vintage race action.    Some of the best stuff of the year.

Gold Top Baby

After the super grooves from Aaron(DPR) & Lisa's wedding,
I was reminded of my disconnect from the Upright Bass.

Found a smashing deal on CL.
Snagged it.

Lady also had a 67 P-Bass that she knew nothing of, didn't have the heart.    She seemed quite happy to discover what her late husbands Bass could be worth.

I was content with the Kay.

I like stunts

Seeing all the skilled riding yesterday just makes me want to get off my lazy ass and ride.

So I decided to find some inspiration while at work today.

Nicely done Madison

Parts Unlimited is having dealer show here in Madison this weekend.

They had Limiter Live come and do a show off the square.   Good shit

"Diverse Crowd"

Quality 93 octane gas was obtained

I can't get over this front end.
Met Roland Sands too, nice guy.

.5+1=

 Almost a tandem
Cut here, cut there.
Tack, tack, tack.   29er should be done in no time.

Storms a brewin"

Serious winds, if all goes well the hummer won't blow over.

Campsite chaos

It didnt blow over, someone reorientated it into the wind.

We decided to do a little more securing.
It felt like damn 50mph winds

Fuck this app

Wrote a post, now lost forever.
Here's the lowdown:  Pops solidified his record at 47.9375 MPH
I did a run, seized just before finishing the timed mile.  Fucking pissed
Got another another run, let it four stroke till I got to the start of the timed mile.  Ran well, backed off a few times when I could feel the piston tightening up.    GPS top speed - 54 MPH
Timing slip 51 and change.
Back in Impound.   Threw another head gasket in to raise the compression.  Charge the battery.
Back up run tomorrow morning.  Break record.

Everything looks better with a little salt

Sunday
Seized a motor
Freed it up
Went to help a stranger
Got stuck, real bad
Got out
Got stuck again
Repeat last two
Got out for good
Got one record run!
Record impound
Pizza
Sucess
Tomorrow, given the bike runs 2 miles we will have a record.
Then we can try to get this bike to scream.

So close

Fred did a few Puckett race mods on the cylinder.
Including turn down the top half and shrink fit on some oversized fins.

Just got the motor in and here I am blogging on this crummy laptop.

With this mega heat shield we shouldn't have any more problems with vaporizing gas.

Im going to do at least daily posts from the salt flats, but the pictures uploaded from my phone suck.    Tough shit.

Now for some research

Byron Mutants

Caught the Meltdown Drags in Byron, no cycles on the strip.   Hoped to have the Hummer done for this, hah.
Snagged a set of used 17" Eagles for the Hummer.    $20-good buy

Check out that sweet 19" wheel on my KLR, im still going crazy over that thing.   Ill do a write up some day on how easy/cheap it was to get together

Tore down

Stripped the Hummer down the other night.   Hoping to get on the road a week from today.
